Growing up, neither of my parents or my grandparents were given the opportunity to learn te reo Māori so we predominately spoke english at home. But when we visited our marae, I was fortunate to be immersed in tikanga māori and listen to my elders kōrero māori on the paepae.
This not only gave me a strong foundation in te ao Māori but also created that urge within me to seek further knowledge in all things Māori and so I studied te reo Māori throughout high school.
Today, I continue my reo Māori journey through tertiary study at Te Wānanga Aronui o Tāmaki Makau Rau (AUT) as part of my Entrepreneurship and Innovation business degree. With my passion for te reo Māori and creative drive I started Reo Way Clothing & Design.
